David Huerta, Co-Founder and Partner

Oversees new business development initiatives and remains actively involved in a number of client accounts. David has provided strategic counsel developing communications strategies to various technology companies from well-established multinationals to start-up ventures seeking to gain a stronger foothold in the Japanese market. For over 10 years he has supported marketing and public relations initiatives for companies such as Microsoft Japan, Transmeta,  Xilinx, IDT, 3PAR,Cambridge Silicon Radio, Elpida , and Nucore Technology. Prior to founding J-Spin, David has honed his Japan market PR skills and knowledge by working  for  7 years at two local Japanese PR agencies. During his tenure, he established the IT practice for the agencies and doubled  the growth of the division’s business.

David has a Masters degree in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of  International Studies, a graduate school of Middlebury College. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Philosophy from Michigan State University and speaks English, Japanese and Spanish.

Yoshitaka Shimizu, Co-Founder and Partner

Brings 20 years of executive experience in  technology and business-to-business marketing. His brand marketing portfolio includes such notables as Boston Scientific, American Chamber of Commerce Medical Device Committee, Dow  Amazon.co.jp, Brocade, Phoenix Technologies, Transmeta, NuCore Technology and VMware. Throughout his career Shimizu has demonstrated the ability to connect clients with right audiences through a combination of traditional PR and Web 2.0 approaches. For decades he has been developing and implementing PR programs in Japan  for  both foreign and domestic companies in including small start-up ventures and blue-chip multinationals seeking to gain a stronger foothold in the Japanese market. He also led the Japan team that implemented the highly successful “Crusoe” branding campaign in Japan, and was responsible for strengthening media relations with target publications for Transmeta.

As a result of successfully executing semiconductor product launch campaigns in Japan J-Spin has won the 2004 Asia Pacific PR Award in the Product & Promotion: Technology category, a 2004 PR News Platinum Award for the Product Launch category, and a 2004 Dalton Pen Award in the Media Relations category. Educated in Japan and the U.S. he is bicultural and fluent in both Japanese & English.
